Provide technical support and perform analysis related to implementation and operation of servers, software systems, specialized computing labs and services in support of Bailey/Howe Library?s information technology mission in a Linux, Windows and Mac OS environment. Participate in system-wide technology planning and decision-making activities related to technology for the Libraries under the auspices of the Systems Librarian. Serve as the primary system administrator for virtual servers that support the information technology mission of the UVM Libraries. Assist with programming support for systems administration, customization of server applications and web development projects. Provide technical support for the specialized Mac OS-based Media Development Lab and classrooms, including application and operating system upgrades. Monitor network switches, routers and wireless access points in the Bailey/Howe Library building. Provide secondary support to the Systems Librarian for Voyager/Primo related processes and procedures as well as other projects. Participate as a resource and secondary support on desktop support for UVM-affiliate accessible and library staff computers in Bailey/Howe Library.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of science degree in a technology field such as Computer Science and at least three years related experience required. Knowledge of Linux, Windows Server and Mac OS required. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment required. Knowledge of at least one higher level programming language such as Java, SQL and Unix shell scripting. Experience with Perl, PHP, MySQL, Oracle, XML, XHTML, CSS JavaScript.
