Are Skills in Auto Racing Transferrable to Other Human Endeavors ...
Almost every skill that humans learn is transferable and can be used somewhere else. Especially if it involves thinking or mental processing, there is always some other activity that can use that part of the brain which has been reformatted to work at processing certain types of information flow. The other day, I was talking to an individual who had some racing experience, as I have. His being in the racing of automobiles, and my way-back-when past experience has been in motorcycles.
Nevertheless I have done some less-than-legal auto racing in my day as well, and I very much believe that my skills were honed in motorcycle racing, which allowed me to compete and do better while racing cars. Anyway we got to talking about this, and I had mentioned that my dad was a fighter pilot, and perhaps I just got lucky with the genes necessary to do racing. I?m not bragging or anything but I could hold my own. The individual I was talking to was a highly skilled auto racing driver, and he had done quite well for himself and was now semi pro, much more than I?d ever achieved.
As we got to talking more and more we were talking about the concept of ?Slow-Mo? when your mind slows everything down, as your adrenaline is flowing, and your heart rate is up ? it?s as if everything stands still, and everything is in vivid detail in microseconds. If you?ve ever done any racing, or played sports at a high-level you know what I?m talking about, now then, are skills in auto racing transferable to other human endeavors? That is the question of the day ? and what we were trying to figure out, seriously, it makes sense that they have to be.
Mental processing at high rates of speed when it counts most might be used for self defense, or other types of sports. It might be a skill which could help in playing a musical instrument or doing something which requires a lot of skill in a proper sequence in a very short amount of time. Does that make sense? Now realize this is only theory based on observations and experiences, and each of us has different types of experiences in our lives. However you can understand why this is an important question.
Okay so, what I?d like you to do is please consider all this, and if you?ve had similar experiences and other types of events in your life, I?d sure like to hear about them. In fact, I?m interested in your comments, questions, and thoughts on this matter. Indeed I hope you will please think on it, and shoot me an e-mail.
