Personal Loans Can Help Consolidate Your Debt | Alek Financial Blog

Posted on Jan 9, 2013 in Credit

A large personal loan can be a very effective way to take control of an over burdened financial situation. It can allow a borrower to pay off multiple existing debts all at one time. This is a needed financial product that online lenders such as Quick Credit have become aware of. In today?s economy, people appreciate this type of help and these lenders have made obtaining them more available. Sometimes getting a larger loan can be a bit of a challenge. This is why a personal loan can be a good choice.

A personal loan is an unsecured loan. This means that the lender does not require the borrower to put up any collateral against the loan. Also, if a borrower has less than great credit, this is an option that you might want to strongly consider. With traditional lenders such as banks, a credit check is usually performed. While a person?s credit score isn?t used as a main deciding factor as much these days, a bank will most likely require some sort of collateral.

If you are looking at this option to help clean up your credit and get your bills paid off it is highly recommended that you do some research into the different types of personal loans available.

Look at repayment terms as well as the lender?s requirements. Make sure you understand every bit of what is presented. If you don?t understand, find someone who can explain it to you. The key to making this a viable option for yourself is to understand exactly what you are getting into.

Once you know what options are available, calculate the exact amount of money you need. This way you can figure out how much you will need to be able to repay each month. If you borrow too much and can?t make the monthly repayment, you might do more damage than good. Also keep in mind that this kind of loan may have a higher interest rate. The lender typically charges more because they are taking a higher risk in lending the money.

They are willing to offer this type of product because they understand that there are good, honest people who need a bit of help. They are recognized experts in lending to people with credit problems. Once you decide on a lender, make sure to check on their reputation with your local Better Business Bureau or look them up on the BBB website.

No joke: Obama to screen TV comedy "1600 Penn" at White House

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A "trophy wife" as first lady, a hapless college-aged son who burns down a fraternity house, and a daughter frantically taking pregnancy tests in a White House bathroom - this TV comedy had better be funny.

On Wednesday, President Barack Obama is slated to hold a private screening at the White House with the cast and crew of "1600 Penn," an NBC series about a dysfunctional first family.

The show, co-created by Jon Lovett, a former speechwriter for Obama, stars Bill Pullman as U.S. President Dale Gilchrist and Jenna Elfman as his first lady, and is named after the street address of the White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

A preview of the show, which premieres on Thursday, features first son "Skip," played by the show's co-creator Josh Gad, being rescued by the Secret Service after starting a fire at his college fraternity house.

"'Meatball' is in the oven," an agent says into his lapel microphone, using the code name for the hapless Skip as he is hustled into a waiting black SUV.

But the show, which is apolitical, aims lower than other recent television dramas about the White House, like Aaron Sorkin's drama series "The West Wing" or HBO's dark satire "Veep."

"We really wanted to dissect what it meant to be a family in the most extraordinary of circumstances - and what's more extraordinary than being the first family?" Gad told reporters last month.

So will Obama laugh?

The screening in the White House's family theater is "closed press," meaning pool reporters won't be there to document whether the comedy hits home.

Use Human Growth Hormones And Build Muscles | Health and ...

Human growth hormones are perhaps most important hormones secreted inside human body. Pituitary glands secrete these vital hormones in the testes of males and ovaries of females. Growth hormones and its subsidiary testosterone hormones are extremely important for maintaining good health in general. In fact, growth hormones are associated with protecting vitality and strength that every human being normally enjoys.

The Benefits of Growth Hormones:

There are innumerable benefits of?human growth hormone (HGH), for example, these hormones keep a person young and are responsible for preserving good sex drive for longer?duration?of life. Similarly, these hormones are essential for building muscle mass and for stronger bones. Furthermore, sufficient quantities of growth hormones or for these matters testosterones are required for preventing overall mental and physical degeneration. In addition, growth hormones are?indispensable?if you want to have perfect sleep and want to avoid depression and anxiety and most importantly obesity.

One can imagine that what will be the condition of body if ample amount of growth hormones are not available. The dearth of growth hormones can lead to many disorders like insomnia, reduced libido, decreased muscle mass and osteoporosis, depression and anxiety. Furthermore, lack of growth hormones can also result in many diseases, notably heart attacks and diabetes.

Treatments of Low Growth Hormones Levels:

Growth hormones levels tend to decline naturally with age and subsequently various disorders start to penetrate human body. However, there is nothing to worry about if you are suffering from any of the above disorder due to lack of HGH. Treatments like testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) can replenish the lost hormones to restore the adequate levels in the body.

Once hormone levels revert to the original state, people begin experience many pleasant changes in their life. These might include smoother skin, enhanced immune system, better joints flexibility, thicker hair and increased levels of energy and vigor alongside benefits mentioned in the upper paragraphs. Furthermore, these treatments can help remarkably to kill extra fat to have a lean body and replace those with greater muscle mass.

Growth Hormones and Herculean Strength:

Although human growth hormones restore vigor and energy, yet you cannot expect that you will overnight become Hercules. They help in strengthening your muscles but again you have to understand that HGH is not going to make you bodybuilder within a blink of any eye. Growth hormones will provide you an excellent platform in the shape of lean muscle mass that is a raw material for making your body strong. From here, it is the duty of an individual to make more efforts like lifting weight or doing regular exercise in order to fulfill his or her dreams.

HGH and Maintenance of Cells:

A person needs to exercise regularly if he wants to obtain more strength from lean muscle mass provided by natural growth hormones HGH in order to increase stamina and size of new tissues. Again, HGH can help fitness addicts a lot because they are also involved in growth and repairing of cells and this allows muscles to repair themselves quickly. This means that less time is required for a rest by the body between extensive workouts. ?Subsequently a person can intensify and increase the frequency of their workouts because growth hormones are not only providing them raw material to increase their strength but also allowing human cells to growth and develop rather quickly.

Popularity of Growth Hormones:

As growth hormones treatments are associated with increased muscular strength, they have been very popular among athletes, wrestlers, and bodybuilders. The most widely used method of these treatments is the direct injection of synthetic hormones that replace missing human growth hormones in the body. However, overdose of these hormones can also create many problems for a person. So, always use growth hormones therapies if you have any medical condition with the advice of an expert physician.

Conclusion:

Human growth hormones can really bring many lost happiness and joys back into your life. Nonetheless, keep one thing in mind; it is absolutely wrong to think that they will perpetuate your youth as aging is a natural process. What they can do is to help you to live a better life free of diseases.

Taylor Swift And Harry Styles Break Up [Exclusive] - Business Insider

After Taylor Swift, 23, and One Direction boy bander Harry Styles, 18, shared a kiss on New Year's Eve in New York City following Swift's Times Square performance, the couple jetted off for a romantic holiday in Virgin Gorda?? but not everything went according to plan.

The couple arrived at Virgin Gorda?? the third largest of the British Virgin Islands known for its "yacht clubs, quiet coves, safe anchorages and luxury resorts and villas"?? on Tuesday, Jan. 1, and even posed for photos with fans at the local CocoMaya restaurant:

But on Friday, Jan. 4, Swift caught the first flight out of Virgin Gorda and headed back to the states after getting into a heated argument with Styles that ended the two-month relationship, according to a source close to One Direction.

Here's a photo of Swift aboard a boat?outside of U.S. customs on St. John, tweeted by a fellow island-goer:

Twitter.com/@Jhurls23

Styles, meanwhile, island-hopped over to Richard Branson's private Necker Island as soon as Swift departed.

"Richard Branson heard Harry was staying nearby so invited him to come check out Necker," the source tells Business Insider. "So when Taylor left for the states, Harry went to Branson's island for the day to let off some steam."

While Styles only stayed on Necker Island for a short while and later returned to Virgin Gorda solo, a source says "he did plenty of partying and was definitely enjoying himself while hanging out with guests. He returned to Virgin Gorda in the early morning hours looking like he had a raucous night."

Photos of Styles in a hot tub alongside Branson and other island guests?have just hit the web:

After a kite surfing lesson, Styles even took time to pose shirtless with fans:

Apparently Styles had been meaning to check out Necker Island anyhow as he is currently scoping out locations for his 21st birthday bash ... in two-and-a-half years.

But the party was short-lived, as Styles headed back to the UK solo on Sunday where he was spotted taking photos with fans at Heathrow airport.

Swift has remained mum on the split, but did tweet this ominous message on Saturday:

Twitter.com/TaylorSwift13

She hasn't posted anything since, but the singer's (whose lucky number is 13) previous tweet was full of hope:

Twitter.com/TaylorSwift13

Looks like 2013 is going to be rockier for Swift than expected.

After taking a pre-Christmas couples ski getaway in Park City, Utah with besties Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, today both couples are reportedly kaput as Bieber and Gomez also departed a New Year's getaway in Mexico earlier than expected.

Whether Swift and Styles are as on-again, off-again as their pals remains to be seen.

Inquiries to reps for Swift and Styles have not yet been returned.

Nutritional Supplement during Radiation Therapy for Prostate ...

Study details:

  • 134 patients diagnosed with localized adenocarcinoma of the prostate
  • All patients were followed up for a minimum period of 5 years after completion of therapy unless lost to follow-up or died.
  • 69 patients who elected to receive naturopathic/nutritional supplements (NNS): green tea extract (500?750?mg two times a day, standardized to 80% catechins), melatonin (20?mg daily at bedtime), vitamin C (500?1000?mg three times a day), and vitamin E (200?400?IU two times a day)
  • 65 patients who elected not to receive supplements
  • The results of this study demonstrate that NNS with antioxidant activity do not interfere with the effectiveness of radiation therapy as a definitive treatment for limited-stage prostate cancer.
  • There was no PSA difference with the NNS group and? the no supplement group
  • Both groups showed decline in sexual function but the no supplement group declined more rapidly than the NNS group.

?

My Take on This:

?

Radiation oncologists discourage patients to consume antioxidant (AO) supplements do to fear that the AO?s will interfere with the treatment. Radiation therapy is a PRO-oxidant therapy (produces free-radicals) and its pro-oxidant activity is partially how the therapy works as explained here.

The different forms or radiation therapy for prostate cancer are found here at prostate.net.

The problem is that while trying to kill the original cancer with radiation therapy a few unwanted consequences may occur:

  1. Damage to the bladder (radiation cystitis) where somewhere down the line the patient develops urinary symptoms.
  2. Theoretically, other tumors may lurk in the future as mentioned here in the New York Times.

Most of my prostate cancer patients undergoing radiation take Advanced Prostate Support (APS), ?a group of naturopathic supplement pills (7 pills) I suspect offer protection from radiation toxicity at minimum.? The goal is for radiation therapy to damage cancer cells while targeted dietary supplements like APS protect healthy cells without interfering with cancer cell death. Whether or not APS synergistically works with radiation therapy to have anti-cancer activity has not been objectively evaluated.? My observation dictates a positive response for patients: less fatigue, functional with work and life, no to little urinary symptoms and stabilize PSA (most likely from the radiation therapy).

Before the Braun et al. trial, there was no objective evidence indicating the unfounded idea that dietary supplement interfered with radiation therapy for men with prostate cancer. It?s important, however, for patients consuming dietary supplement during radiation to be guided by a nutritionally oriented physician or a naturopathic doctor. The Braun study highlights this one fundamental point in their conclusion.

Let me know your experience taking the dietary supplement while undergoing radiation if this is the case for you.

Please share and ?LIKE? freely with friends if you think this blog post is helpful. Always grateful.

Analysis: Why Google NKorea visit irks US

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Google chief Eric Schmidt's plan to visit North Korea has put the Obama administration in the awkward position of opposing a champion of Internet freedom engaging with one of the most intensely censored countries.

But the Obama administration is wary for a reason: It fears Schmidt's trip could give a boost to North Korea's young leader, Kim Jong Un, just when Washington is trying to pressure him.

North Korea in December launched a long-range rocket in violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions, and the U.S. and its allies are seeking tighter sanctions. That's proving difficult because of resistance from permanent council member China, which likely fears its troublesome ally could respond to punishment by conducting a nuclear test.

U.S. officials are also concerned that the high-profile visit could confuse partners in Asia and suggest a shift in U.S. policy as the administration prepares to install a new secretary of state to succeed Hillary Rodham Clinton. The nominee is Sen. John Kerry, the Democratic presidential candidate in 2004.

An imminent change of government in South Korea is already raising questions about whether Washington and close ally Seoul can remain in lockstep in their dealings with Pyongyang. Newly elected leader Park Geun-hye is expected to seek a more conciliatory approach toward rival North Korea after she takes up the presidency in February.

This helps to explain why the State Department, which has been a vigorous advocate of social media freedoms around the world, particularly last year during the Arab Spring, made clear it was displeased by the planned "private, humanitarian" visit by Schmidt and former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, expected this month.

"We don't think the timing of the visit is helpful and they are well aware of our views," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told a news briefing Thursday.

Richardson, a seasoned envoy and a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said Friday that the State Department should not be nervous. In interviews with CBS and CNN, Richardson said they had been planning to visit in December but postponed the trip at the department's request because of the presidential election that month in South Korea.

Richardson said he would raise with North Korea the matter of an American detained there last month on suspicion of committing unspecified "hostile" acts against the state that could draw a sentence of 10 years of hard labor. He'll also try to meet with the detainee, he said.

He also said he was concerned about North Korea's nuclear proliferation and this was a "very important juncture" to talk and try to move the North Koreans in the "right direction."

Schmidt, Richardson said, was traveling as a private citizen. But the trip raises questions about whether Google has plans for North Korea.

Schmidt, the company's executive chairman, is a staunch advocate of global Internet access and the power of connectivity in lifting people out of poverty and political oppression, and there are few countries where the obstacles are as stark. North Koreans need government permission to interact with foreigners ? in person, by phone or by email ? and only a tiny portion of the elite class is connected to the Internet.

U.S. law restricts American companies' dealings with North Korea, which is subject to tough sanctions because of its nuclear and missile programs. Imports of North Korean goods are prohibited, but travel to North Korea, exports of U.S. goods and investment in the country are allowed, subject to some restrictions, such as on exports of luxury goods.

Richardson himself has been to North Korea at least a half-dozen times since 1994, including two trips to negotiate the release of detained Americans. His last visit to Pyongyang was in 2010.

The present detainee, Kenneth Bae, is the fifth American held in North Korea in the past four years ? including two U.S. journalists who were freed in 2009 after former President Bill Clinton traveled to Pyongyang and met with then-leader Kim Jong Il. Richardson said it was doubtful he and Schmidt would meet with Kim Jong Un, but he expected to talk with officials from the foreign affairs and economic ministries and the military.

North Korea could show good will by freeing Bae, but detainees risk becoming bargaining chips for Pyongyang in its tumultuous relationship with Washington, which retains nearly 30,000 troops in South Korea, a legacy of the 1950-53 Korean War, which ended with a truce, not a peace treaty.

Kim Jong Un's elevation to leadership after his father's death a year ago offered some hope of better relations. But after agreeing in late February to an offer of U.S. food aid in exchange for nuclear concessions, North Korea derailed the deal weeks later when it attempted to launch a satellite atop a rocket that the U.S. believes was a test of ballistic missile capabilities.

Relations were set back further by the latest launch, this time successful, which the North again insisted was for a purely peaceful space program.

In the past year, Kim has made at least stylistic changes that hint at more openness, leading some commentators to call for a fresh outreach by U.S. diplomats. That's something that the nominee for secretary of state, Kerry, might support. But there's still little sign of substantive reform in Pyongyang.

Science Fraud and Legal Action

There have been occasional links here in the comments to Science-Fraud.org, although I'm not sure if I ever linked them directly or not. Note the use of the past tense: as detailed here at Retraction Watch, the site has suddenly gone (mostly) dark under threats of legal action. Nothing appears on the Wayback Machine at archive.org, either.

I'm not all that surprised. I've said unkind things about people and organizations on this blog, but Science Fraud seemed to have that pedal pushed down to the floor the entire time. And while I've had threats of legal action, I think that I've managed to stay just this side of defamation, although with some people that's hard to do. (I mean for that to be interpreted both ways - both that it's hard to avoid saying nasty things about some people, but also that in such cases, it's hard to think of things that are nasty enough to be defamatory). But which side of that line Paul Brookes, the now-public U. Rochester scientist behind the Science Fraud site, has landed on is still up for debate. More as this story develops. . .

Codeblack snags next Kevin Hart concert film, Summit plots July 4 release

NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) - Codeblack Films has acquired Kevin Hart's concert film, "Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain," which Summit plans to release in theaters over the July 4 weekend.

Hart's 2012 tour spanned 10 countries and 80 cities, selling more than 540,000 tickets. He stopped at some of the world's biggest venues, including Madison Square Garden and London's O2 Arena.

"Let Me Explain is my best work to date," Hart said in a statement. "I am beyond excited by how my fans will be able to see my growth as a stand-up comedian from my first special I'm a Grown Little Man until now," Hart said in a statement.

Hart has built himself into one of the most successful comedians working today, combining stand-up, acting roles and hosting duties at various awards shows.

He starred in 2012's "Think Like A Man," which was a surprise box office hit for Sony's ScreenGems label with a $96 million worldwide haul. Codeblack partnered with Hart on his last concert film, "Kevin Hart: Laugh at My Pain," which grossed $7.7 million in limited release.

Lionsgate, owner of Summit, made a deal with Jeff Clanagan in May to bring Codeblack under its corporate umbrella. Clanagan founded Codeblack to make movies, TV shows and other entertainment properties for black or "urban" audiences.

"I am very excited about working with Kevin on his next stand up film," Clanagan said in a statement. "We laid the groundwork with Laugh at My Pain. Let me Explain will show Kevin's growth as a comedian and entrepreneur as well as his global appeal."
